VOID AND VACANT
Safety Solutions for void and vacant properties
Ensuring the safety of void or vacant properties is a key responsibility for facilities managers, as these buildings face increased risks from fire, arson, damage, and theft due to inactivity. Flammable materials like wiring and furniture further heighten the danger.
Our wireless safety solutions offer automatic fire detection, real-time alerts, 24/7 monitoring, and water leak detection. Seamlessly integrating with existing security, CCTV, or fire alarm systems, they provide full protection. Completely wireless, they are ideal for properties without electricity, ensuring reliable coverage in any environment.

SOLUTIONS
Safety Solutions for Vacant and Unoccupied Buildings
The pandemic has significantly increased the number of vacant properties and reduced the availability of on-site personnel to ensure their safety.
In response to this challenge, wireless safety solutions provide comprehensive protection, offering remote monitoring and alarm systems that keep property managers informed in real time. By investing in proactive, specialised digital technology, property owners can protect their assets, maintain safety standards, and mitigate risks such as fire, vandalism, and theft. Wireless solutions offer a reliable way to safeguard empty buildings, ensuring that even without on-site staff, properties remain secure and compliant.
INSIGHTS
Risk and responsibility in void and vacant buildings
Across Europe there are hundreds of thousands of buildings lying dormant, which is likely to have risen in number with the impact of the pandemic. These are all at risk of damage, with fire being a particular concern. As well as causing costly damage, there is a major safety threat to neighbouring buildings and the surrounding area. According to Habitat for Humanity, an estimated 7,000 local authority-owned commercial and business premises across England, Scotland and Wales had been vacant for more than 12 months as of 2020 (an average of 18 properties per council).
170K
There were 172,217 commercial buildings sitting empty in the UK in 2020, with the figure thought to have risen since the pandemic.
9,000
Approximately 9,000 fires occur in empty buildings across the UK each year, and 25% of their direct damage costs incurred related to unoccupied buildings.
£11BN
For the year 2017–18, the National Fire Chiefs Council estimated the potential economic cost attributed to arson to be between £5.5bn and £11bn.
